The Pufferfish quest begins on the desert island. Find the nervous Tourist near the water and start his request before trying to summon the boss.

Trade an Endangered catch for the Carrot

    Activate the Tourist quest

    Speak to the Tourist on Island 3 so the request is active and you know what category of catch he accepts.

    Catch an Endangered creature

    Use the island's appropriate lure and inspect the catch tag. Needlefish and Seahorse are confirmed examples; the Endangered label is the important requirement.

    Return to the Tourist

    Hand over the qualifying catch. He rewards you with the Carrot used as Pufferfish bait.

    Prepare before casting

What to bring to the fight

Controllable ranged damage

An upgraded SMG is a frequently successful choice because it supports continuous movement. Use a weapon you can fire without planting your feet.

Healing and ammunition

Start at full health and carry enough recovery and ammo for a longer fight than the earlier bosses.

Open inventory space

Leave room for the named Pufferfish Fin so it cannot be confused with ordinary drops after the fight.

A tree circuit

Identify two or more trees you can circle without getting wedged between terrain and the shoreline.

Cast the Carrot in the Island 3 lagoon

Equip the Carrot as bait and cast it from the lagoon shore. Reel in the encounter, switch immediately to your weapon, and move toward the tree route you selected before the boss starts its first charge.

How to beat Pufferfish

    Never stop in the open

    Pufferfish closes distance with rolling attacks. Keep running and fire only when the boss is turning or rerouting.

    Circle around trees

    Put solid terrain between you and the charge. Move around the obstacle as the boss commits, then shoot while it changes direction.

    Keep the loop wide

    A tight circle can trap you against a trunk. Leave enough room to see the boss and change direction if the route becomes unsafe.

    Adjust for the poison phase

    Later in the fight, avoid the purple poison trail and contaminated ground. Widen or shift your circuit instead of forcing the same path.

    Maintain safe pressure

    Watch the white encounter timer. Use repeated safe damage windows rather than standing still for one long burst.

Why the Pufferfish fight fails

The roll keeps hitting

Use terrain to break the direct line and move before the charge reaches your position.

The trees trap you

Your circuit is too tight. Move into a wider loop with more than one escape direction.

Poison blocks the route

Abandon the contaminated loop and establish a new one instead of crossing the trail repeatedly.

The boss escapes

Fire during each safe turn. Excessive running without damage can let the encounter timer expire.

Return the Pufferfish Fin

After the boss dies, pick up the named Pufferfish Fin rather than leaving with ordinary meat. Return the Fin to the Tourist and finish the hand-in to receive the coordinates for Island 4.
